Lalique Double Fish Sculpture, Goldluster

René Lalique founded his firm in Paris in 1885, designing and making fine jewelry. In the 1920s, an order for perfume bottles led him to develop a glass-making technique that would endure as Lalique's signature characteristics: iced surfaces, elaborate patterns in relief, and occasionally applied or inlaid color. This lyrical sculpture, designed in 1953 by Marc Lalique (Rene's son), reflects that tradition. The two carp fish, intertwined in a never-ending circle, are crafted from solid crystal.
