Outstanding workmanship, beautiful finish, amazing design, plus very roomy and functional. I am so happy with this fine piece of furniture.

Great Piece!
I have had my desk armoire for several months. The qualiy of the construction is very solid, the wood is beautiful ---it is a great piece of furniture. The only downside is having to flip up the desk to get at files/drawers below, but I have addressed that by putting longer term storage below the desk surface and all the immediate items above. Highly recommend for a smaller space and for the overall quality.

Very nice looking desk
We purchased this desk and the matching chair so that my husband could have a home office and I would not have an office in the middle of our great room. I am happy with how it looks and that it can be closed up quickly. He likes the large work surface and the amount of storage. For us it works. The major drawback would be accessing the bottom shelves and drawers when it is open. The quality of the desk is good and the style is beautiful.

MARIA YEE SHINTO OFFICE ARMOIRE
Beautiful furniture but drawbacks in practicality - Front fold down of desk is almost 26" deep so if monitor is in the cutout in the back of the desk, it is too far away. When front of desk is open with keyboard or papers, it is impossible to access the drawers underneath, especially the top one. It also is awkward to crawl under the fold down to get into cupboards. Designed for looks, not practical use as a desk.

If you are willing to inspect at shipping...
After taking off 3 days of work for white glove, finally got one. The first came with 1 shipper and he couldn't put into house. 2nd time unloaded with 2 men was badly damaged with poor workmanship. 3rd--looks good superficially, Yee not fine furniture though.

Beautiful, But Quality Problems
I own several pieces of Maria Yee furniture which I have purchased from Gumps, and up until now have been extremely happy with everything. The quality is superb, I appreciate the design, and Gumps delivery service in San Francisco is far superior to any delivery service you will ever experience. This is the second Maria Yee desk I have purchased, largely because I was so pleased with the first one, and I needed a desk in a second home. As noted in one of the other reviews, this may not be the ideal desk for heavy everyday office use, as the fold down front does make it difficult to access the cabinets underneath. But if you want a beautiful piece of furniture suitable for an hour or two of desk/computer work each day, it would be hard to beat this desk.Unfortunately, the latest example I received has some manufacturing flaws. Once you open the desk it is obvious that the interior veneer panels were put together haphazardly, and as a result the underlying base wood is not covered leaving a stripe of unfinished wood. Given the price and my prior purchases of Maria Yee furniture, I expected much better quality but instead received something that is typical of many discount mail order furniture outlets. In addition, the delivery resulted in a number of cracks/chips/dents to the veneer, and as a result I am overall very disapointed with this purchase.
