Showcasing the height of Venetian gothic palace architecture, this exquisitely detailed model by renowned craftsman Timothy Richards captures the grandeur of the Ca' d'Oro (Golden House) both inside and out. Handcrafted from gypsum-based plaster with a cast-lead crown, etched-brass railing, and back windows of the palest blue handmade glass. Gold leaf replicates the lavish decoration that earned the palace its name, and a cast-lead base suggests the watery depths of Venice's Grand Canal, on which it was built in the early 15th century. Bottom is covered in blue felt. Made at Richards' studio in England, the model is offered in a limited edition of 480, each signed and dated by the artist. 12 1/4"W x 4"D x 15 1/2"H.
