This pair of models by renowned artist Timothy Richards celebrates the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. The left-hand bookend re-creates the fluted body and simple capital used in the Parthenon's Doric columns; the right-hand bookend reproduces the refined proportions, fluting, and volute-accented capital of an Ionic column from the monument's Temple of Athena Nike. Even their pediments and bas-relief friezes are recreated in precise detail. Carefully handcrafted in Richards' Bath, England, studio from gypsum-based plaster, the models are also emblazoned with their order names to create a coordinating bookend set. Superior in design and quality, Richards' models are commissioned by institutions including Harvard University and London's Victoria and Albert Museum, and make wonderful gifts for aficionados of architecture and design, art and history. Also available at Gump's San Francisco. 11"L x 3"W x 9"H. Made in the United Kingdom.
