Hand-sculpted from sandstone, this serene Buddha head was inspired by a figure in the Ajanta Ellora caves, a series of 63 magnificent ancient shrines carved by hand into rocky hillsides near Aurangabad, India. The sculpture's hair and features are classically Indian; the peaceful smile is universal. Black painted wood base. 6 1/2"L x 5 1/2"W x 16"H. Imported. Also available at Gump's San Francisco store.
